Instruction

1

Step1

Preparation

  1. Measure Your Board: Measure the width and height of the cutting area on your bamboo board.
  2. Masking (Optional but Recommended): Cover the engraving area with blue painter's tape. This prevents smoke stains (scorching) on the wood surrounding the design. You can peel it off after engraving for a crisp, clean look.
  3. Place the Material: Set the cutting board inside your xTool workspace.
2

Step2

Software Setup (XCS)

  1. Import the Project: Open XCS and click Import to import your design file.
  2. Resize: Click the lock icon to maintain proportions, then change the size to fit your measurements from Step 1.
  3. Position: Drag the design to where you want it on the virtual canvas.
3

Step3

Settings & Printing

  1. Set Parameters: Click on your design and set the Processing Type to Engrave.
    • Recommended Starting Settings (for 40W Diode Lasers on Bamboo):
    • Power: 10%
    • Speed: 140 mm/s
    • Lines Per cm (LPC): 100–120 (higher density = darker engrave)
  2. Focus: Use the kickstand or auto-measure feature to focus the laser on the surface of the board.
  3. Framing: Click Framing. The laser will trace a rectangle on your board showing exactly where the design will go. Adjust the physical board until it is perfectly centered.
  4. Process: Click Process (or "Start") -> Start.
  5. Finish: Once done, remove the board and peel off the masking tape (if used).
4

Step4

Pro Tip: Bamboo creates a lot of soot. If the engraving looks dirty, wipe it down with a damp cloth or a little rubbing alcohol after peeling the tape.
