Information

A coffee-themed pendant for every coffee lover. It can be used as a decoration, a gift, or even a seal on a package of your own coffee.

Instruction

1

Step1: Prerequisites

For brass embossing you need to use a fiber laser like F1 Ultra or F2 Ultra. F2 Ultra was used in this project. F1 Ultra probably not have enough energy for incise pendant from 2 mm brass sheet. But on F1 Ultra you can use depth map (without the hanging ring) on blank coin.

Step2: Material placement

Place the 2 mm brass sheet approximately in the center of the work surface, so that the pendant motif is in the center. If you move the motif too far off center, the cut edge will be significantly skewed. If you are using a blank coin without cutting, move it as close to the exhaust as possible after measuring the focus.

Step3: Embossing and cutting

You can use my project settings for processing on the F2 Ultra. It takes about an 82 minutes to process.
After the process is complete, visually check whether the brass sheet has been completely cut through. If not, do not move anything and start the incise layer processing again. The second time you run it, you can reduce the number of layers, or visually check the moment when the brass is cut through. Then you can manually end the process.

If you are using the F1 Ultra, you must use the settings appropriate for that machine and remove hanging ring from depth map image. For F1 Ultra you can be inspired by my other coin embossing projects. On the F1 Ultra, one coin takes about four to five hours.

Step4: Cleaning and polishing

For cleaning, you can use the laser on which the pendant was created. For F2 Ultra, my project already includes continuous cleaning of the surface. For F1 Ultra, you can again be inspired by my older projects. You need to create a cleaning layer and run it after embossing.
If you are processing a pendant including cutting from brass sheet, the edges of the cut will be beveled after completion. If this is not desired, the edge must be mechanically smoothed using a grinder.
For mechanical cleaning, you can use a wire brush, steel wool or one of the electric compact multi tools. I found a magnetic tumbler to work well.
