Preview

Import & Resize

  • Open XCS and click Image to upload your design file
  • Click the design to select it.
  • In the top size bar, ensure the Lock Icon is closed (to keep the ratio) and type in the width of your cutting board (leave a small margin, e.g., if the board is 11", make the design 10").
2

Step2

Power & Speed Settings (Guideline for Bamboo)

  • Note: Settings depend on your machine wattage (10W/20W/40W).
  • Power: 70% - 90%
  • Speed: 150 - 300 mm/s (Too slow creates charring; too fast is too light).
  • Lines Per Cm (LPC): Set to 100-120 for high detail.
  • Tip: Bamboo varies in density. Run a small test grid on the back of the board if possible.
3

Step3

Alignment (Framing)

  • Click Frame in the software.
  • Watch the laser head move and outline the area on your actual board. Adjust the physical board position until the framing is perfectly centered.
4

Step4

Engrave

  • Put on your safety glasses.
  • Click Process -> Start.
5

Step5

Post-Processing (The "Pro" Finish)

  • Clean: After engraving, the bamboo might have sticky soot or "char" on it. Wipe it down with a little Isopropyl Alcohol or vinegar on a rag.
  • Seal: Rub a generous amount of food-safe mineral oil or cutting board wax over the engraving to protect the wood and make the dark color pop.
