Information

      A wall art decoration for coffee lovers and cafe shops. I have it hanging on my kitchen wall, but it can be used as a door hanging sign as well.

2 layers and glued together. I used walnut for the back board and basswood for the design.

Instruction

Step1: Load Wood Sheets and Settings

I used walnut plywood for the back board and basswood for the main design. I covered the basswood with masking tape to protect it from char.
I loaded both 12x12 inch sheets into my P2. Use material pins or magnets so that it does not move around.
In the software, I positioned the main design on top of the basswood. I positioned the back board over the walnut using the camera.
Click on both design pieces, and set your settings for Cut. For both types of wood, I used 40 power, 15 speed, and 1 pass.

Step2: Laser Cut

Press Aimed-Measure, then move the blue box cursor over the wood surface and click anywhere on the wood. I got 3.3 mm as my thickness.
Click the green Process button on the bottom right of the screen.
A preview will be shown. Click the green Start button (top right) to send it to the machine.
Press the button on the P2 machine to start. It should take about 16 minutes to complete.

Step3: Peel Off Masking Tape

Preview

If you used masking tape, peel off the masking tape now.
Or sand the top surface to remove any char from the wood.
Carefully remove or punch out all the little pieces.
You will need to keep 3 small pieces. Two are for the cup's “highlight shine" and the other is the tiny swirl in the coffee mug.

Step4: Assembly

Apply some glue to the back of the basswood piece. I used a glue bottle with a fine tip for easy application.
Carefully align the 2 pieces and attach together.
Use clamps to hold everything in place while it dries.
All done! Hang it up!
