Information

This interchangeable reading tracker is designed for book lovers who want a fun, reusable way to track how many books they’ve read throughout the year. Instead of rewriting or remaking a sign, simply swap out the numbers as your reading total grows.

Perfect for home libraries, classrooms, reading challenges, book clubs, or cozy reading corners. The interchangeable system allows you to update your count at any time, making it ideal for year-long reading goals.

The design works best with Velcro or magnets to hold the numbers in place. I personally recommend Velcro, as it sits flatter than hooks or raised hardware and is easier to maintain with frequent number changes.

✂️ Laser Cut Instructions – Book Reading Tracker

🔧 File Setup

This file is color-coded for easy use in your laser software:

Red lines = CUT

Blue lines = SCORE

Black = ENGRAVE

Before cutting, double-check that your software is assigning each color correctly. Resize only if needed — the design scales well as-is.

🔥 Cutting Your Pieces

Cut all pieces from your material of choice (⅛” wood recommended):

Main reading tracker board

All interchangeable numbers

Lightly sand edges if needed after cutting.

🎨 Painting & Finishing

Painting before assembly is highly recommended.

Paint or stain the board and numbers separately

Use a small brush or sponge for engraved areas

Let everything dry completely before moving on

You can seal your finished pieces with a clear coat if desired for durability.

🔁 Interchangeable Numbers (Very Important Part 😉)

This design is meant to be reusable and easy to update as more books are read throughout the year.

You have two attachment options:

✅ Velcro (Recommended)

Apply small Velcro dots or strips to the back of each number

Add matching Velcro to the number area on the board

👉 Why Velcro?
Velcro sits flatter than hooks or hardware, holds securely, and is easy to replace over time. It’s my personal go-to for anything that gets handled often.

🧲 Magnets (Optional)

Use small craft magnets the thinnest you can find

Test magnet polarity before gluing

Glue magnets securely and allow full cure time

Both options work — choose what best fits your workflow.
