No special procedures were taken. Make sure your air assist is up during the cutting. Use settings that dig a little into the wood. That will make for easier painting. You can process both Canvas at the same time, but working on them alone makes it easier if you want to engrave on both sides of the tokens.
If you want to plain the letters you should add a generous coat of polyurethane varnish or sanding sealant and allow it to dry. Add a second coat, making sure it goes into all the grooves. Once it is properly dry paint inside the grooves. Don't worry about paint going into the rest of the sign. Once the acrylics dry sand using 220 sandpaper to remove any excess paint. Clean with a damp cloth. Wait until it dries, and apply the same finish.
