Cook up a little romance with this charming "Recipe for Love" engraved cutting board. More than just a kitchen utensil, it's a sweet daily reminder of the ingredients that make a relationship truly special.
Crafted from durable, eco-friendly bamboo, this board features a beautiful laser-engraved design that stands out against the natural wood grain. The header reads "Recipe for Love." in an elegant script, followed by a heartwarming list of essentials:
1 Cup Patience
2 Cups Laughter
A Dash of Spice
Endless Support.
This serving board is the perfect blend of sentiment and practicality. Use the blank side for chopping vegetables, slicing cheeses, or serving a charcuterie spread for two. When not in use, display the engraved side on your counter or shelf as a piece of rustic kitchen decor that celebrates your love story.
Preparation:
Measure Your Board: precise measurement of the engraving area (usually the center or bottom corner).
Masking (Optional but Recommended): Cover the engraving area with blue painter's tape or dedicated laser masking tape.
Why? If you are using Bamboo board, it contains sugars and glue that create a sticky, brown "smoke" when burned. Masking tape prevents this smoke from staining the wood around the letters. You simply peel it off after engraving for crisp edges.
Machine Settings
Set Parameters (Change it for your specific Machine. I used this for my D1)
Processing Type: Engrave
Lines Per Inch (LPI): Set this to 200 - 250.
Why? Bamboo is fibrous. Too low LPI creates gaps; too high (300+) just burns the same spot repeatedly and creates charcoal. 220 is usually the sweet spot.
Framing
Place your cutting board in the machine.
Click Framing in XCS.
Watch the laser red dot (or the framing rectangle). Ensure the design is perfectly centered on your board.
Tip: If your board has a handle, make sure the text isn't upside down relative to how you want to hang it!
Process
Click Process -> Start.
Watch the first few seconds to ensure it is engraving where you expect.
Post-Processing (Cleanup)
If you used tape: Simply peel off the tape. The design underneath should be clean.
If you did NOT use tape: You will likely see brown "smoke stains" around the letters.
Take a rag or soft brush.
Mix a little Vinegar and Water or use Isopropyl Alcohol.
Gently scrub the board to remove the sticky residue.
Do not scrub too hard directly on the letters or you might smear the char into the pores of the wood.
Seal the Board
Once dry, apply a generous coat of food-safe Mineral Oil or Butcher Block Conditioner. This will turn the engraved area a rich, dark brown color and protect the wood.
Enjoy your new cutting board!!
