What you'll need:

Most of these items were purchased from my local Dollar Tree.

Bamboo Cutting Board
Long Piece of wood
Cabinet Handle Hardware
Craft paint, Glue, and a Stand.

I'm using the S1 40W for this project.  I'll begin by placing the cutting board onto the bed of the laser.  I've selected Bamboo from the materials library, as a baseline, but I'll make a few adjustment.

Perform the auto measure and mark the processing area.  This will be the full size of the cutting board.

Using the processing area shape as your guide arrange the design and handle cut-out within that shape.

The wood piece to hold the book measures 117mm long and 19mm tall.  The 19mm measurement is important because the handle cutout can't be larger than that.  What I would recommend is sizing the book holder cut-out 2-3mm less in height than the wood piece for holding the book.  You will also need to cut the wood to match the width of the cutting board.

Because of bamboo's unique qualities engraving can look uneven, that's just the way it is. However, I've adjusted the settings resulting in a deeper and darker look.  You can see those settings in the slides.

It required 4 passes to cut the handle shape and a focus descent of 3, also shown in the slide.  Depending on your machine and the thickness of the board it could be more or less for you.

I used brown acrylic paint for the book holder.  You could stain it or leave it natural, it's up to you.

Now it's time to attach the cabinet handle.  I'm going to use glue for this part, but you can use screws if you wish.  Loctite glue is what I used.

Place the handle cut-out back into the space it cut from.  Apply wood glue and attach the book holder piece on the 19mm edge.  By doing it this way you will ensure that you have it centered and that it covers the handle cutout top and bottom. Let dry completely.
