First off, I LOVE TOOL.
And so, while trying to figure out something I wanted to design to add to a flask while testing out settings I thought “Why the hell not?!”
I took the artwork and removed the background, smoothed the lines and ran it in using Infrared (see all settings in photo)
I DID NOT use the curved surface function. For two reasons:
1: I kind of liked the idea of random colours, and so I wasn't going for anything in particular.
2: For some reason when using the curved surface function I am unable to cool certain settings, and that made me uncomfortable with moving forward so I just winged it. Ha-ha!
I didn't get much range of colour, however the golden hues I did get are quite pleasing.
I engraved this on the concave side, however I see no reason why it wouldn't work on the convex.
If you're not using the curved surface format like I did, remember to DEFOCUS before starting. (Focus it somewhere in between highest point and lowest point.
Hope this helps anyone. I've only been doing this about 3 days so I doubt its nothing ya'll didnt already know.
