Information

Within xTool, there's a "Dream-Maker Team" – and we're embedding "creation" into the very fiber of every component in the most hardcore way.

This hardcore, metal-style go-kart before you isn't a commercial product. It's the result of an internal project: "Build a Go-Kart with xTool."

From design sketches to a drivable prototype, from frame construction, laser cutting, and welding to road tests, every step was led by the team. Cross-departmental collaboration refined the design style and debugged the fabrication process. The most compelling part was the "imperfect reality" along the way. The steering wheel linkage was welded on backward? Fix it! A flaw in the shell design? Take the front off, reinforce it, and put it back on!

We're not chasing a "perfect script"; we only care about "authentic creation." After all, this is the core of Maker culture: a love for creating, enjoying the process of solving problems, and, above all, believing in the infinite possibilities of "turning ideas into reality with tools."

This is internal creation at xTool – not about "completing a task," but about proving that when the tools are powerful enough and the team is passionate enough, every idea can drive from the blueprint into reality. And we are tirelessly creating, eagerly anticipating, and letting more people see the charm of "creation."

Step1: Introduction

xTool Dreamer Project: We built a Cyberpunk Kart instruction: step 1 - Introduction

Inside xTool, there’s a group we call the Dream Makers—a team committed to engraving creation into the very grain of every component, in the most hardcore way possible.

The rugged, metal-style go-kart you see here isn’t a commercial product. It’s the result of an internal initiative: “Build a Go-Kart with xTool.”

From initial sketches to a drivable prototype, from frame construction and laser cutting to welding and road testing—every step was led by the team. Cross-department collaboration shaped the design language and refined the fabrication process. And what moved us most were the imperfect, honest moments along the way.
Steering linkage installed backwards during welding? Fix it.
Flaws in the body design? Remove the front, reinforce it, rebuild.

We don’t chase a perfect script—we care about real creation. Because that’s the heart of Maker culture: loving the act of making, embracing problem-solving, and believing in the limitless possibilities of turning ideas into reality with the right tools.

This is internal creation at xTool—not to “complete a task,” but to prove that when the tools are powerful enough and the team is passionate enough, every idea can drive off the drawing board and into the real world.
And we never get tired of creating—hoping more people can see the true magic of making.

To recreate this beast, you’ll need the following core allies:

xTool Metal Fab (Laser Cutting Machine): For cutting metal body panels, stainless steel plates, and tubing.

xTool P2S (CO₂ Laser Cutter): For processing acrylic light covers, wooden interior parts, and logo details.

Essential Metalworking Tools: Welding machine, electric screwdriver, metal bender, grinder, and more.

(Ps: The following lists only the core exterior and structural materials. For the complete BOM—including fasteners, motor, and electronic components—please refer to the PDF file.)

Body Panels: 304/305 stainless steel sheets
(1 mm for bent exterior panels, 3 mm for load-bearing structures)

Frame: Ø28 mm stainless steel tubing with 1 mm wall thickness

Decorative & Interior Parts: Black acrylic sheets (front body / dashboard), translucent acrylic (light covers), and wood panels (seat structure)

This is the three-step journey from blueprint to reality:

Cutting: Use the xTool Metal Fab with a rotary attachment to precisely cut tubular frames and metal sheets; use the P2S to cut non-metal decorative parts.

Forming: Bend the cut low-poly metal panels along preset fold lines—building a three-dimensional armored shell, just like origami.

Assembly: Weld the frame, install the motor and suspension system, then secure the body panels and lighting system.

Step7: Visual Showcase

Exploded Assembly View: Showcasing the layered structure of the frame, suspension, and body panels.

Three-View Drawings: Presenting the overall proportions and mechanical aesthetics of the go-kart from multiple angles.

Step8: One More Thing: Pipe Cutting Attachment

Since this is all about the Maker spirit, it only makes sense to go open-source.
If you’re ready to challenge this hardcore beast—or simply want to study its structural design—we’re releasing the complete set of engineering files for free download.

And you might have noticed a little 'One More Thing' hidden in this project, too.

When Metal Fab Meets P2: We Built a Custom “Tube-Cutting Beast”

The most effective tools are often born right on the production floor. To make round-tube processing easier, we combined two heavy hitters from the xTool family to build a self-made adaptive tube-cutting tool.

A balance of strength and finesse:
The core frame is made from 3 mm stainless steel plates precisely cut with xTool Metal Fab, providing industrial-grade stability. The exterior and structural reinforcements are crafted from walnut panels processed on the xTool P2S—adding warmth, durability, and a refined finish.

Adaptive smart design:
Four built-in tension springs automatically lock tubes with diameters from 25–50 mm, with no complex adjustments required.

Silky-smooth cutting experience:
Paired with dual high-friction PU drive wheels, the tube rotates smoothly and evenly. Press the laser button, and the beam performs a clean, 360-degree cut—like a surgical scalpel.

This is more than just a tube cutter.
It’s a powerful demonstration of xTool’s cross-platform fabrication capabilities. From stainless steel to walnut wood, if you can imagine it—xTool can help you make it real.
