I made this out of acrylic from my niece who will be getting her learners permit!
This was pretty easy. I am pretty new, so I was just trying to teach my self to unite the letters. I've found it super helpful to tell ChatGPT what I want to do and upload a picture of my screen.. and tell me how to do it.
Step-by-Step: Unite Letters in xTool Creative Space
1. Type your text
Click Text
Choose your font
⚠️ Tip: Script fonts work best for keyrings *only if the letters already touch or can be nudged to touch
2. Convert text to paths (THIS IS IMPORTANT)
You can’t unite live text.
Select the text
Click Convert to Path (top toolbar or right panel)
Now each letter is a shape, not editable text
👉 If you skip this step, Unite won’t work properly
3. Make the letters overlap slightly
This is the most common issue.
Select all letters
Use arrow keys to nudge them closer
Make sure each letter actually overlaps, not just touches edges
💡 Zoom in—xTool is very literal. If there’s no overlap, it won’t merge.
4. Select all letters
Click and drag a box around the word
OR
Hold Shift and click each letter
You should see all letters highlighted.
5. Click “Unite”
Look for Unite in the top toolbar (Boolean tools)
Click it
✨ Magic moment:
All letters should now become one single outline
6. Test it (don’t skip this!)
Click off the design
Click it again
If it’s one object, you’re golden.
If letters separate → undo, overlap more, and try again.
