This is a combination safe puzzle box. It requires the right combination of four dials to open the box.

Laser cut the safe door and sort parts. Glue the pivot (axles) to the stop rings. These will go on the back of the safe door.
Glue mid-layer pieces to the base layer. PRECISE ALIGNMENT of the mid-layer on to the baser layer is important for the gears and slides to work properly.
Add the cams (partial cut circular pieces) to the axles in the open position. These will rotate to lock the safe. Position the slides in the maximum extended (locked) positions.
Test the gears to be sure the slides move smoothly. Keep the cams in the open position so the slides move smoothly. THIS IS CRITICAL FOR THE NEXT STEP.

Place the safe door cover on and glue to mid-layer. Be careful not to make this too tight, or cams won't rotate. I put thin stips of cardboard on the mid-layer to create a thin space and allow free movement (sorry, no picture).
BE CAREFUL NOT TO DISTURB THE CAMS.
Place the combination dials on the axles and glue in place. I use a drop of gel super glue on the top of the axle to glue it to the dial without gluing the whole thing in place.
Be careful not the rotate the dials yet. WRITE DOWN THE COMBINATION, OR TAKE A PHOTO. After this there's no way to recreate the combination.
Finally, add three space rings to the central, locking axle a glue on the opener dial.

The box is straightforward, but be sure to check the position of the sides, as the left and right side are different. Leave one side open until you are ready to install the safe door, then glue on the final side.
Test everything (hopefully you wrote down the combination in the last step!)
