I wanted to do an ornament in clear acrylic. As part of the process, I have used both Tempera paint and black laser marking spray. I thought the laser marking spray gave a uniform coat so I stayed with that, although it could be costly in a production environment.
I wanted to make clear ornaments with laser engraved images. I chose the image above because it's a PNG file and has no background to deal with. I also spent about a day not getting good results, until I changed my image engrave parameters, basically, 100% is too strong, I limited my max power to around 60%, but I would go off of the engrave values in the file. I have a grid set up to show it how it works but I haven't updated it with my working parameters. I will probably upload it later.
For the image I chose, I went with the greyscale modifier and inverted the image.
