This layered, wood & acrylic sign, is the perfect way to add some whimsy to your holiday decor! The white acrylic works perfectly as a mini dry erase board.
Gather your supplies & prep your materials.
Decide what acrylic colors you would like to use for your words & bow. I chose red, but you can use any color of 1/8th or 3mm acrylic color you’d like.
I also prestained my 1/8th or 3mm layer of wood. That’s also your choice.
General Note:
Make sure all your materials, stains, etc. are laser safe. The settings I have listed are what I have found works best for myself. Please use what settings work best for you and your machine. It is never a bad idea to do a material test grid.
Apply your adhesive sheet to the back of your acrylic sheet. Make sure your acrylic sheet is clean & clear before application. I use a scraper to smooth it on, to ensure there aren’t any bubbles.
Apply adhesive to the back of your white sheet and the sheets you have chosen to use for your bow & words.
Process your 1/4th or 6mm wood pieces. The red layer will be cut.
The purple layer is an optional score. It is there to help you align your 1/8th or 3mm wood piece.

Make sure your wood shapes are sanded and clean then begin painting/staining. I used hunter green spray paint on my 1/4th or 6mm backlayer piece. For my engraved 1/8th or 3mm piece I used a “natural” wood stain.
Allow both pieces to dry completely.
Once all your pieces are dry, begin assembling.
Carefully peel the backing off of the adhesive sheet on acrylic shapes. Align the shapes to the scored lines on the 1/8th or 3mm wood piece. Clamp & wait around 1 hour.
Then, glue the 1/8th or 3mm wood piece to the 1/4th or 6mm backlayer piece. Clamp & let set. Allow to dry completely. I have also used some scrap Dualtite strips before and it has worked awesome.
