While looking at making a standard jigsaw puzzle, I have tried to make a unique one designed primarily for seniors in aged care. Interlocking pieces of different shapes make it a little more complicated than the standard knobs and sockets but not so many pieces that one losses interest. I hope.
This version is all cut, including the title. The title could be engraved (or scored). I didn't to save time. I did however score the back of the rear panel with “Xmas 2025” and my logo (not shown here). Of cause you could make this “say” anything you wanted.
I used 3mm Basswood with the design around 200mm width.
I also tried using 2mm basswood with the design reduced to 130mm wide. This did NOT work as parts became very susceptible to break.

Once cut, I stained the different sections. Frame in Black Japan. The padlocks in Old Baltic. The padlock inserts in Jarrah and the keys in 2X white. A final spray of lacquer. One thing I didn't do is give the stain time to dry properly. In my haste to see the assembled result there is some transfer of stain to other pieces.
