Information

A wooden case with a magnet inside for keeping sewing needles and magnets for closing the case.

Instruction

1

Step1

The file Needle Backs and Middles does the parts for 4 cases.  The Front's File has 12.  (Both are done on 12" x 12" 3mm Basswood.)  To make all 12 cut the Needle Back's file 3 times and the Front's once.

2

Step2

The Magnets I used to close the case are 0.39x0.2x0.08inches Strong Rare Earth Neodymium Magnet that I bought from Amazon.  The exact magnets I bought aren't available anymore, but you can find others the same size.

The magnet sheet inside the case for holding the needles are old advertising calendars cut to 2" x 2.25" and glued in place.

3

Step3

Glue one back to one frame.  Let dry.  Fill in the small rectangles with glue and put the rare earth magnet into each slot.  Brush the large open rectangle with glue and put the magnetic calendar square in the space.  Let dry.

Glue one frame to the back side of each front piece.  Let dry.   Fill in the small rectangles with glue and put the rare earth magnet into each slot.  Be sure to check that you have the correct side glued down so that it attracts the magnet in the base layer rather than repelling it.
