This Christmas Market To-Go is a fun and creative DIY project that can be used as decoration or a unique gift. I made it to bring a little festive charm into any home. You can fill it with treats, small presents, or other surprises, making it the perfect way to “gift” a miniature Christmas market to someone special.
I placed a 3 mm MDF sheet into the laser cutter. The board I used measured 48 × 28 cm. That’s the size I based the design on. However, other similar dimensions will work as well.
Once the material is positioned correctly, start the laser-cutting process according to the file settings. In the laser file, you can also change the text on the front to personalize it.
After laser cutting, place the main side of the house flat on the table. Then attach the two side panels to it. Make sure that the engraving on each side panel is facing outward before gluing them in place.
Next, add the floor. Make sure it fits into the slots on both sides—just like a puzzle. Once it is positioned correctly, you can glue it in place. If everything is aligned properly, the back edge of the floor will sit flush with the rear wall.
Make sure the bottom tabs slide into the corresponding slots—again, just like a puzzle. When everything is aligned correctly, the front wall will sit flush with the two side panels.
Next, glue the small table piece in place. Apply glue to the teeth/tabs and insert them into the slots. Press the tabs firmly so they lock in and hold securely.
After the table is attached, add a little glue to the long support strip and place it above the table. This adds extra stability to the table structure.
The roof panels should be glued flush along their straight edges. Make sure they are attached to the cover piece with the “ugly” side facing up, so it won’t be visible later.
Once the roof pieces are assembled, glue the entire roof onto the house. Make sure the back edge lines up flush with the rear wall — if it’s aligned correctly, everything should sit perfectly in place.
Now you can glue on all the decorative elements. Place them wherever you like to complete the Christmas Market To-Go.
