Information

This beautifully crafted wooden memorial lantern is designed to honor the loving memory of a cherished pet. Laser-cut from smooth, light-toned wood on my xTool F1, it features delicately detailed paw prints, heart accents, and engraved wording that glows softly when a candle is placed inside. Layered panels and interlocking roof pieces create a charming handcrafted look, while optional engraving allows you to personalize the lantern with a pet’s name, dates, or meaningful quotes. A heartfelt keepsake that brings warmth, comfort, and light to any space.

Assembly Instructions – Memorial Lantern

Designed and made on my xTool F1
(For larger laser machines, all pieces can be placed on a single canvas.)

Cutting & Engraving Notes

Red = Cut

Blue = Engrave

All pieces are already sized correctly.

The design is split across multiple canvases for the xTool F1.
Run each canvas until all pieces are fully cut and engraved.

STEP 1 — Cutting the Base

Cut the Base Plate.

This piece will be your main foundation.

STEP 2 — Cutting & Engraving the Side Panels

Cut Side Panels A, B, C, & D.

Side C includes an engraving area where you may add a pet’s name, dates, or a personal quote.

Complete all engraving before assembly.

STEP 3 — Cutting the Top Frame

Cut the top inner frame pieces.

These will sit above the four side panels and create the first box.

STEP 4 — Cutting the Roof Sides

Cut the roof side pieces.

These slide into the inner grooves of the STEP 3 top frame, forming a second smaller box.

STEP 5 — Cutting the Roof Layers

Cut the larger roof square (main roof layer).

Cut the smaller roof square (top cap).

STEP 6 — Hearts & Paws

Cut the paw shapes

These can be painted, stained, or even engraved with names/dates for personalization.

Assembly Order

*** Glue as you go for the strongest hold.

Start with the Base Plate (Step 1). Using the grooves in the base plate, attach Side A, B, C, and D from Step 2 to form the lantern walls. Make sure each panel seats firmly in the grooves.

Place the Step 3 top frame onto the four assembled sides to form the first box section.

Insert the roof side pieces from Step 4 into the inner cut slots of the Step 3 top frame.

Position the larger roof square (Step 5) on top, using the grooves to align it correctly.

Add the smaller roof square (Step 5) to create the layered roof design.

Glue the lantern top/handle (Step 5) into the final groove at the top of the roof.

Attach the paws to the heart accents from Step 6 to Side B and Side D from Step 2.
(You may paint or engrave these if desired.)

All Finished!

Your layered memorial lantern is complete.
Add a tea light, LED candle, or extra personalization to make it uniquely yours.
