THE DESIGN STAGE (all photos will have instructions inside as well)
- First, we are going to insert a rectangle. For this project we are going to use one 12" x 12" basswood. So lets size our board to 11.5" w x 5.75" h inches.
- Next, we need to add another rectangle sized to .76" w x 3.9" H
- Select it, right click, copy and paste. You will have two rectangles now
- Put one on each side of the ends of the board. Make sure they are equal distances apart from the edges. See the photo for a more detailed illustration.
- Insert another circle, change the diensions to 1.5" x 1.5"
- Select the circle, right click, copy and paste it 3 times. You will have 4 circles now.
- Align the circles at the top of the board.
- With all the circles selected, hold on shift and click on the larger rectangle.
- At the top click align, click horizontal align center
- Click on the first circle, hold shift and click on the remaining ones.
- Right click, group them all together.
- Insert another circle, dimensions will be 2.15" x 2.15".
- Select it, right click, copy and paste. You will have two circles.
- Align them so they are centered with the end circles at the top and also with each other.
- Inset another circle, the dimensions will be 1.25" x 1.25". You can place it inside the bottom bigger circle.
- You can align it so that it is centered inside the bigger circle
- Now we will add some creative text! This can be customized to your liking!
- I sized my text to about 30 pt
- I also aligned the text to horizontally centered to the biggest rectangle.
- you can do this by selecting both the test and the big rectangle, align at the top and horitzonal align center.
- Now, we need to add a few more text.
- Inset text, SALT, in the smaller circle that we place inside the bigger one at the bottom right of the board.
- I sized to about 30pt and also made sure its both centered horitontally and veritcally with the smaller circle.
- Make sure all texts you've created is set to engrave
- Select the whole board by dragging your mouse over all of the objects. Make sure EVERYTHING is selected.
- Once it's all selected, right click, copy and paste and move the new copied board is directly under the old one.
- One the second board we just created, delete all four circles at the top and the two circles that surround the word “SALT". You should ONLY be left with three rectangles and the larger circle on the lower left corner.
- Create another text box, write the word “LIME” using the same text settings as “SALT” 30 pts
- Align “LIME” centered in the bottom cicle on the bottom board.
- Make sure it is aligned in the very center vertically and horizontally.
- Click on the circle that surrounds “LIME”, right click, and delete the circle.
- Now make sure all the shapes on BOTH boards are set to cut. You can use 3mm bassboard settings.
- Make sure all the text is set to engrave.
- After you confirm all the boards have the correct settings, select everything on the first board and group it all together.
- Next select everything on the second board only and group it all together. You will have two different boards. Each board will be its own group!
- Its ready to send to the laser!
