Easter Egg with Hidden Message

Step 1) This project starts with an SVG of a decorated Easter egg from my computer, i then created a circle and placed in the middle of the design on the egg. I used the combine feature and selected subtract to remove the center of the design. I then created another circle from the insert button and placed it the same place making sure the new circle covers all the loose ends of the center pieces. I used the combine feature again but this time it was united. Thise leaves the center of the Easter egg with no design. 

Step 2) Now the Lid is created, i first start off with the same SVG file but resized it a bit smaller. I then used the outline option and added a border around it so it would cover the first larger egg. i created a circle to add to this outline so a hole can be made to make a pivot point, basically a hinge. This small hole is placed on the main egg and the smaller door  inso they match up.

Step 3) Now for the hidden message, this will be engraved under the door when closed and exposed when swung open out of the way. The wording Happy Easter is created with the text editor. Once the size and font was picked the curve feature was used so it could be bent around the opening. The all the was needed was the main egg itself to be outlined so it could be cut out.

Step 4) Once everything was set, it was off to the laser machine. When this was finished the pre-painted egg was touched up with some white paint pen around the edges. then the screw is added to make the 2 pieces work like a hinged door to close and then open by sliding it out of the way to reveal the message.
