Information

Just a little show of appreciation for those who play the guitar.

The plectrum holder can store two to three plectrums, it all depends on their thickness and the strength of your magnets.

The magnets I use here are 6mm in diameter - if you use a different sized magnet, simply make the circles larger to fit your magnets, then ensure that the resized circle is centralised.

There are five parts to cut:

  • A base, consisting of the first three parts
  • A lid, consisting of the last two remaining parts

For glueing you can use super glue but I prefer to use wood glue. I highly recommend Titebond.

  1. Glue the first three parts together to form the base. First you attach the piece with the hole to the solid base - this is where the magnet will be held. Then you attach the thin border which will raise the height of the base.
  2. You then glue the remaining two parts to form the lid.

Step2: Add a little color

This is optional but I like to add a little color to the inside of the base.
If you select a darker color, then this will also hide any excess glue which you might not have removed in the previous step ;)

Place a little UV resin into the two holes for the magnets.
Before inserting the magnets, ensure that the polarity is correct :)

Cure the UV resin with UV light, you will need no longer than a minute for this to cure.

After curing, the lid will attach itself to the base using the power of the magnets

Step4: Finish up

I like to stain gifts to change the standard color of the material.
Here I'm using light oak stain.
