Step1: Choose a good stone and make the engraving

Find a flat stone, or a stone with a flat surface.

Step2: Paint the engraving

Paint the engraving with a water resistant colour, e.g. gold.

Step3: Sand off the excess paint.

To be able to see the engraving in gold, sand off the excess paint and wash the stone.
