Instruction
Step1: Process Material

There are 2 canvases that are each laid out for a 12x18 inch sheet of 3mm plywood. You can rearrange the pieces as needed based on your material. The chick's eyes and beak are set to engrave, but you can change to score if you would like to paint. You may need to adjust the base slot sizes based on your material. To do that, select the base and ungroup. You can now select each individual slot. Select one slot and click Offset. If you need to make it bigger, leave External checked. If you need to make it smaller, check Inner and uncheck External. Set the offset distance needed and click confirm. Be sure to set the new box to cut. Delete the original box. Once you do all the boxes, you can now select the entire base and group. Process both canvases. Check to make sure each piece fits into the corresponding slot. Adjust and reprocess if needed.
Step2: Paint/Stain

Paint and/or stain as desired. The picture shows a natural stain with acrylic paints and paint pens. The back side of each egg base is painted as well.
Step3: Assemble Large Egg with Chick

First, glue the overlays onto each side of the large egg halves. Turn them both over and glue on the spacer pieces. See picture for how it lines up. They should not cover the holes. Now, put glue in the 2 holes and insert the small rectangle pieces. Take the chick and turn so the back is facing up. Place it on the egg by sliding the holes over the small rectangle pieces. This piece is not glued. Take the remaining egg halves and, if painted, make sure the painted side is facing up. Put glue on the spacers and inside the slots on the egg halves. Place the egg halves on top of the spacers. Be sure the small rectangle pieces slide into the slots on the egg halves. You don't want glue to get onto the chick piece. You want these pieces to be glued together tight so use clamps if needed. You should now be able to open and close the egg showing off the chick inside.
Step4: Assemble Remaining Pieces

Glue the egg overlays and the letters onto the bases. Use the score lines to line up the letters. You will want to glue the large egg with chick into place. When the egg opens, it will want to pull the entire piece out of the slot. Place glue and to very bottom front and back and slide into place. Now you can insert the remaining pieces into the base. Glue in place if desired. Enjoy!
