Step1: Design

Preview
- Create your text and add at hat or diploma if you like
- Create an outline around your objects
- Select all objects, right click, copy & paste
- On the pasted copy, delete the copy line ONLY
- Set everything else to “cut”
- On the pasted copy, delete the copy line ONLY
- Create a small rectangle and align it with the outline at the bottom where the word “DAY” would be.
- Make sure its overlapping
- Select objects and “unite”
- Make sure its overlapping
- I usually wait until after I cut my design to make the base so I can use the exact measurements.

Step2: Creating a base

Preview
- Grab your digital calipers
- After your project is cut measure the bottom rectangle under the word “day”
- Length and Width
- Now go back into XCS
- Create a rectangle using those exact measurements
- Create another bigger rectangle around the small one.
- Align them both center
- Set them both to “cut”
- Send to laser
