Layered Christmas Ornament

The design is based on cutting out more each layer to show extra of the layer before. To start you pick the outline shape and create that. Then you copy it for as many layers you want, I chose to use 4. The first is the back so you leave it blank except for the hole from which you will hang the ornament. On the next one you add some shapes that you want to cut out. For mine I wanted them to be symmetrical so I just did one size and reflected it over. As you move to the 3rd layer you just make the shapes larger. Do the same thing for the rest of your layers. You don't want them to split the border otherwise you add a lot more work for yourself. Once you have finished your shape, making sure everything is only outlines.

The next step is to load the material into your machine and cut it. All lines should be cut out. In order to achieve the cleanest cuts I used the auto measure tool on my P2 to have accurate thickness. I chose to use 2 passes because this will get rid of any bits that would still catch so you had very clean pieces. Once cut all you need is the main outline, so you can get rid of the little shapes from inside them and the extra wood around them.

In order to assemble the ornaments all you need is wood glue, your cutouts, a paper clip, and a wet paper towel. Once you have all of these things its time to assemble them:

1. Stack all of the pieces from no cutouts to most cut out, align all of them together and make sure you like how it looks. 
2. Now separate all of the layers out into a line so that you keep them straight. 
3. Next put the glue on the back of the 2nd piece and stack it onto the bottom. 
4. Repeat step 3 until all layers are together
5. Re align all of the pieces before the glue can set
6. Now take your wet paper towel and wipe the extra glue off the sides
7. Leave it to dry. (At least 1 hour preferably 2)
8. Unbend your paper clip, and slide it through the hole at the top.
9. Re bend the paper clip to keep it from sliding out and use the other end as a hanger.

Now you have completed the assembly of your ornaments!

Now you are finished and you should display it proudly on your tree using the paperclip to hang it!
