Hi everyone, I’d like to introduce my first project! :)
I wanted to start with something simple and practical—something that would be useful for me as well. Since I don’t have any coasters, and everywhere I go, people use them, I decided to make my own.
A slice of bread, cheese, lettuce, a fried egg, avocado, tomato, salami… and I ended up with a pretty cool, colorful sandwich!
The coasters passed the test—they’re perfect for everyday use and make a great addition to breakfast and kids’ table settings. Kids love using them, and the vibrant colors and cute little faces bring a joyful atmosphere to every meal. 😊
Instruction
Step1: Cut, Engrave and Score
Prepare a 3mm A4 plywood sheet (I recommend lightly sanding it before cutting to achieve a smooth surface on the cut elements).
In my project, I used three processes: cutting, scoring, and engraving. My settings on individual coasters:

I determined the size of the coasters based on real products I had in my fridge (8-11 cm), making sure that after cutting, they retained their functional qualities—not too big, not too small, but just perfect for a cup!
Step2: Color and use
I painted the cut-out elements with Liquitex Basics Acrylic paints, just like in the picture. I recommend using vibrant colors. In my opinion, the colors add a special glow to this product.
I used the following colors:
- Cheese - cadmium yellow medium hue, titanium white
- Egg - primary yellow, titanium white
- Tomato - naphthol crimson, cadmium red deep hue, titanium white
- Lettuce - light green permanent, titanium white
- Salami - (mix : burnt sienna, medium magenta, cadmium red deep hue, titanium white), titanium white, (mix: medium magenta, titanium white)
- Bread - titanium white
- Avocado - (mix: titanium white, cadmium yellow medium hue, light green permanent), hookers green hue permanent
Bright colors and realistic shapes create a joyful atmosphere, making for a stunning decoration.
The coasters can be used not only for table arrangements—raw, unpainted ones can be a great option for creative activities for children or fun playtime in a shop or restaurant setting.
