Just remove chain, if in, and lay on flat baseplate. make sure to put something (1/8" ply works good to allow to overshoot sides and increase design size to cover full dog tag. Optionally, create a shape identical to the dogt ag and use a mask. I would also recommend checking and double checking using framing feature so you don't burn your base plate.
