Information

I created this retirement keepsake for my coworkers as a reminder that their contribution mattered. The puzzle piece carries the message, “Always Remember / YOU ARE THE PIECE THAT MADE THE / Difference.” A smaller inscription reads, “Never stop making a difference. Enjoy your retirement and continue to be a blessing to others.”

The downloadable template preserves the design shown in my finished examples, with “YOUR NAME” and “YEAR” in the personalization area. Customize the name, year, main message, and smaller retirement inscription to make a gift for a coworker, mentor, teacher, or someone beginning their next chapter. The included wording is a starting point you can personalize.

The piece is approximately 8.5 inches wide by 7 inches tall and can be displayed on a small tabletop easel. The photos show actual completed gifts; recipient names in those photos are examples. The downloadable file contains generic placeholders.

Instruction

1

Step1

Open the file in xTool Studio. Save a new working copy. Select the lower-left text object named “Customize YOUR NAME and YEAR” and replace the first line with the recipient’s name and the second with the retirement year. You can also edit the main message and the smaller retirement inscription.

Select each text object you want to change and enter your own wording. The main message spans three text objects: “Always Remember,” “YOU ARE THE PIECE / THAT MADE THE,” and “Difference.” Keep the line breaks and layout in mind, and resize or reposition longer messages so they remain inside the puzzle outline.

The personalization and smaller inscription use Times New Roman; the script headings use Great Vibes. If Studio reports a missing font, resolve it and check the layout before processing. A long name may need a smaller font size. Keep both lines centered in the lower-left leg, away from the outer cut line and the curved opening.

Step2

Check the layout and settings Keep the design at its saved size, approximately 215.9 × 177.35 mm. Confirm that the lettering is assigned to filled engraving and the outer puzzle outline to cutting. Check the effective settings against the table above, including the 20W laser selection. Review the processing preview to confirm that only the intended lettering and one puzzle outline will process.
