Articulated wooden desk lamp with slatted shade

Assemble frame as shown in picture.  I used 6 spacers, but included more on the canvas in case your material isn’t as thick.  

Add a small amount of glue to each tab and assemble the shade.  Once done, the finish ring can be glued.  Now push in the light and glue in the rear ring.

I decided on a curved piece to connect the shade to the frame, but included 2 straight versions for user preference.  Finally, glue frame to base.  After it dries, articulate the lamp to the desired shape, then glue the bottom bracket.  Glue and clamp ! If this isn’t done, springs or a thumb screw would need to be added.
