Information

I made this coaster to celebrate honest materials and simple craftsmanship. The oiled 15 mm acacia feels warm and ages beautifully, while the laser‑engraved logo adds a subtle, timeless touch. Functional, durable, and full of character perfect for everyday use or a thoughtful gift.

Step1

Recommended starting settings (calibration)

  • Goal — visible, clean engraving with moderate contrast:
    • Speed: 150–220 mm/s
    • Power: 55–70%
    • Passes: 2 (or 3 light passes)
    • Line interval: 0.08–0.12 mm (≈300–600 DPI)
  • If you prefer darker/near‑silhouette look: reduce speed toward 120 mm/s or increase power in 5–10% steps; test first.
  • If you see heavy charring: raise speed 20–40% and/or lower power 5–15%.

Quality checklist before running

  1. Test patch on scrap of same board (include area with knot if present).
  2. Confirm focus and clamp flat.
  3. Set ventilation and have extinguisher ready.
  4. Use multiple light passes rather than one aggressive pass.
  5. Inspect and sand/mask after to remove soot if desired.
