Information

Capture a precious moment in your child's journey!

This project is a personalized wooden milestone board designed to celebrate a child's first day of... school, etc.... Crafted with precision using laser cutting and engraving, it combines natural plywood with sleek black inserts for a modern, high-contrast look.

Material Alternative (Pro-Tip): You can also use 3mm black acrylic instead of painted plywood for the rectangles. Using acrylic allows liquid chalk markers to be easily wiped off with a damp cloth, making the board reusable year after year!

Engrave and Sand the Base Board

  • Material: 3mm beech plywood
  • Process: Engrave the main design, text layout, and leaf motifs onto the plywood, then cut out the main board shape.
  • Finishing: After laser processing, gently sand the wood surface using fine-grit sandpaper (e.g., 240–400 grit). This easily removes laser smoke stains/burn marks and leaves a perfectly smooth, clean finish.

Cut and Glue the Black Accent Rectangles

  • Material: 3mm birch plywood, matte black spray paint, wood glue.
  • Once fully dry, place the painted sheet into the laser machine and cut out all the required rectangular pieces.
  • Glue the black rectangles onto the designated areas clearly marked on the main engraved board.

Pro-Tip: Painting the board before laser cutting saves time and ensures clean edges. Having subtle placement guidelines engraved on the base board makes alignment and gluing perfectly accurate.

Finishing & Personalization

  • Process: The board is now complete! Customers can write personalized details and sweet memories onto the black rectangles using a white marker.

Material Alternative (Pro-Tip): You can also use 3mm black acrylic instead of painted plywood for the rectangles. Using acrylic allows liquid chalk markers to be easily wiped off with a damp cloth, making the board reusable year after year!
