Animal Desk Pets Classroom Reward System Figures and Accessories

This project was made using 6 pieces 12 inch by 12 inch of 3mm basswood. I cut all themed items and organized them using the least amount of layers as possible. If you only want to cut one theme they are color coded for cute, fantasy, school, and food groups. In addition there is a layer for the shelving and bases. For this project I used power 60, speed 27 and 1 pass to cut all parts. For engraving I used 30 power, 500 speed and 1 pass. For score I used 2 settings one at 10 power and the other at 30 with both a speed off 200 and 1 pass. Start by cutting all pieces. Each animal is two layers. If you want you can save wood by moving the engraving to the backer layer. The base can be made using one or 2 layers. So if you want to save wood you can cut out parts. Remember to center your design, turn output on, check the preview to see if it is correct, start the machine and watch your pets come to life. I really like this laser and had fun creating this project for the contest. 

Match up all your cut engraved animals with their backer piece. A few are very close so make sure to arrange them on the backer the correct way. I used a few daps of glue and they stayed together nicely.

I chose to paint pieces. It was a lot of fun. I added blending by adding a darker color on the edges see first photo. Then I used a lighter color to add on top for the shading.
