Birthday Cake "Twist" Gift Card Holder

Assembly Instructions

1. Load the design file into xTool Creative Space.
2. Before cutting, verify that the gift card opening fits your gift card. Resize the slot if necessary.
3. Measure the diameter of your dowel and resize the three dowel holes to ensure a snug, smooth fit.
4. Cut all of the pieces.
5. Glue the dowel into the large circular piece that spins freely within the back layer. Allow the glue to dry completely.
6. Glue the two bottom layers together, making sure all edges and holes are perfectly aligned.
7. Once the glue has dried, insert the dowel through the aligned holes, ensuring the large circle is seated in the recessed pocket of the back layer.
8. Slide a small piece of paper or wax paper over the dowel before installing the front cake layer. This acts as a spacer and prevents glue from accidentally bonding the rotating cake layer to the base.
9. Slide the front cake layer onto the dowel. Mark the dowel so it is flush with the front surface of the cake, then trim the dowel to length.
10. Apply glue to the small locking circle and attach it to the end of the dowel. Be careful not to get glue on the front cake layer—the cake should rotate freely after the glue has dried.
11. Glue the decorative cake pieces onto the front layer to conceal the locking circle and create the finished 3D layered effect.
12. Insert your gift card, twist the cake closed, and it's ready to gift!

Tip

Before inserting the gift card, test the rotation of the cake. If it feels too tight, lightly sand the dowel or slightly enlarge the dowel holes until the cake opens and closes smoothly.
