Information

I recently created a vintage-inspired halftone DTF design featuring a classic pin-up woman enjoying strawberries while wearing adorable strawberry earrings. Rather than leaving unused space on my DTF gang sheet, I filled it with a matching strawberry design so I could create a pair of coordinating earrings to complete the outfit.

The results turned out beautifully! The matching earrings are the perfect finishing touch and really bring the whole design together.

This strawberry design is also great for print-and-cut projects using the M1 Ultra or M2 with the print modules, or for sublimation if you have a sublimation printer.

I've included the strawberry artwork so you can use it in your own projects, no matter which method you choose.

The first step is to resize the strawberry graphic so it matches the vector file in xTool software.

  • For Print & Cut (M1 Ultra or M2 with the print modules): You're all set! The strawberry graphic is already included in the project and sized correctly. Simply follow the Print & Cut instructions for your machine.
  • For DTF: Resize the strawberry graphic to 1.485" W × 1.5" H, then print it on your DTF gang sheet.
  • For Sublimation: Follow the same sizing and printing instructions as the DTF method by resizing the graphic to 1.485" W × 1.5" H before printing.

Step2: Create the Jig and Cut the Earring Blanks

Directions for DTF and Sublimation

Using the jig is optional, but I found it made aligning the design much easier.

Begin by cutting the jig, which also includes two earring blanks. If you're making multiple pairs of earrings, you only need to cut the jig once. After that, simply cut additional earring blanks and reuse the same jig for each set.

Step3: Align the Image to the Blank

Place the earring blanks back into the jig.  Place your image over the blank and secure in place with heat resistant tape.

Step4: Press the Images

Every heat press performs a little differently, so you may need to adjust the time or temperature to suit your equipment. For my setup, I used 300°F (149°C) for 15 seconds, and it produced excellent results.

Place a piece of wood or hardboard on the heat press bed, then position the jig with the earring blanks inside.

Press the design, then remove the transfer using a warm peel.

Add the earring hardware and your earrings are complete.
