Information

Sometimes inspiration comes from the most unexpected places.
A broken salt shaker on my kitchen counter made me wonder if anyone had designed a laser-cut replacement. After searching Atomm... surprisingly, there weren't any!
So I gave it the 1% treatment.
What started as a simple shaker became a complete collection featuring realistic beverage-can inspired tops, engraved patriotic artwork celebrating America's 250th anniversary, and a matching napkin caddy. Every detail was designed from scratch to be fun to build, functional to use, and worthy of becoming the centerpiece of every backyard barbecue.
Here's to proving that sometimes a 1% spark of curiosity can turn an everyday object into something people will enjoy for years to come.

I had high quality 1/4" pine plywood on hand, so I used that for the Shaker Stack rings. The rack / napkin holder was cut from 1/4" Birch Plywood

Instruction

1

Step1: Cut out Shaker body parts and glue Shakers Together

Load up the first canvas , cut out your shaker bodies and then glue them together like in the video. Be sure to glue the bottom two pieces on in the correct direction so that the lid inserts with the twist slot facing out.

2

Step2: Sand Edges Smooth

Using your choice of sander, sand the edges smooth to remove the laser char and expose and nice clean engraveable surface.

3

Step3: Engrave Your Shakers

Setup the rotary engraver, load the file, and engrave the image on each can.

4

Step4: Assemble Napkin Caddy

Load the Canvas and file for the Napkin Holder. Cut this out and assemble like in the video. Video is missing the center “napkin” layer which you will glue between the two upright napkin handles to secure them in place tightly.
