I Found It Raven and Skull Challenge Coin

My creative process started with a simple question: How can I make a challenge coin that people will genuinely want to find and keep? Rather than creating another traditional military-style coin, I wanted something with personality, humor, and a story behind it.

I began by sketching out several concepts and brainstorming phrases that would immediately catch someone's attention. After deciding on the "Last F*** to Give" theme, I experimented with different visual elements until I settled on a raven perched on a skull, creating a bold and slightly dark but humorous design. For the reverse side, I developed the "In Case of Emergency – Break Glass" concept, using an open vault to symbolize the idea that there are simply no more "f***s" left to give.

Once the concept was finalized, I created the artwork digitally and adjusted every element to work within the limited space of a 38mm challenge coin. I paid close attention to line thickness, contrast, spacing, and engraving depth to ensure the design would engrave cleanly while still preserving the fine details.

After preparing the files, I used my fiber laser to engrave the coin, making multiple test runs and fine-tuning the settings to achieve crisp details without overcutting the metal. Once engraved, the coin was cleaned, inspected, and placed into a protective capsule for presentation and durability.

The finished piece represents more than just a novelty item—it combines creativity, precision craftsmanship, and storytelling into a collectible that encourages interaction and community engagement. From the initial idea to the final assembly, every step was intentionally planned to create something memorable that people would be excited to discover, keep, and share.
