Information
Father’s Day gifts are often funny, temporary, or quickly enjoyed… snacks, candy, coffee mugs, and little novelty items that make me smile in the moment of maybe the day.
I wanted to create something different. I also wanted to Include ALL YOU SEE in that opening photos, so I've made and attached the design for all the signs, gift tag and trinkets to really make it special.
The “Thanks For Lighting The Way” lantern was designed to feel personal, meaningful, and display-worthy all at once. Something that not only reminds Dad how appreciated he is, but something he’d genuinely want to keep on his desk, shelf, workshop bench, or favorite corner of the house simply because it looks beautiful and tells a story.
The rustic lamp post design, warm glowing lantern, and engraved message are all meant to symbolize the guidance, support, and steady presence that dads bring to our lives every day.
More than just a Father’s Day gift, this project was designed to become a lasting keepsake.

Instruction
Step1: Load File / Plywood
Load a clean sheet of 1/8" birch, baswood or other plywood into the bed of your laser. Load file, adjust settings if using wood other than baswood or white birch.

Step2: Glue together Lamppost
The lamppost is designed in three layers, with the middle layer being small enough to run the small wires for the Fairy LED light inside the lantern. Apply glue to both sides of center piece stick the outside pieces on make sure you have a nice slot to run wire along. Clamp and allow glue to set.
Step3: Assmeble Lamppost Base
Layout the parts for the Lamppost base and glue it together. Allow glue to set.
Step4: Glue Lanter Body
Layout sides, top and bottom for main lantern body. Apply glue to tabs and assemble. Allow to set.
Step5: Assemble Lantern Top
Like with the lantern main body and base, layout pieces for lantern top, glue tabs and assemble. Once together, apply glue to bottom and glue to the top of the lantern base. Glue lantern handle into slot on top.
Step6: Glue Lamppost to Base
Unclamp the lampost, apply a thin layer of glue to the bottom ¾" inch on the three non slotted sides, then slide into lamppost base. Apply glue to bottom of lampost base and a bit more around lamppost on the under side and glue in place on the Project main base. Glue sides around Project base, glue Plaque under lantern. Hang Lantern, …Impress Dad, and make him feel loved!
Step7: LED Wiring Install (Coming Soon)
You can power the light with two AA batteries, OR you can use an old USB cable and a 100ohm resistor (a few bucks for manny) to make it powered that way. Note which wire is the positive wire before cutting it from the battery pack. This wire will need the 100ohm resistor soldered on before connecting to the USB red internal wire. Connect the ground the black wire inside the usb cable. Solder all connections cleanly and secure with heat shrink for a clean, easy, plug and play battery free connection!
Step8
Run wire thru lamppost assembly starting from inside the lamp. Pass wires other aligned slots on lamp structure then thru recessed groove on center of lamppost securing with hot glue as you go. Pass thru the base and out the back thru the grooves and slots for the wire. Again secure everything with hot glue.
