Information

Surprise your dad with a unique, handmade gift for Father's Day. This wooden toolbox project is designed for 3mm plywood and features a classic curved lid with living hinges, a sturdy handle, and a removable inner tray for smaller items. The set also includes files to make wooden toy tools: a saw, a flexible-handle hammer, and two screwdrivers. You can personalize the front by engraving a metal plate with a custom message like "Dad's toolbox" to make it truly special.
How to make: Cut the main box, tray, and tool elements from 3mm plywood. Assemble the wooden pieces, paying attention to the flexible living hinge sections of the lid. Engrave your text onto a blank metal tag and mount it inside the designated front frame.
How to cut / engrave / print: Cut the plywood elements using your diode or CO2 laser. The metal plate requires an infrared laser module to properly engrave the text and background pattern.
Settings used: Plywood cutting (xTool S1 10W): Power 100%, Speed 3 mm/s, Pass 1. Metal tag engraving (xTool F2 Infrared): Power 85%, Speed 900 mm/s, Pass 1, Lines per cm 200.
