Information
This is a special gift box that requires you to use your mind to open it. Yes it is a puzzle box that is fun to watch as they figure out how to open it. Great for Wedding, Birthdays and other occasions. Not much of a wedding story for us, the money we got was spent on pizza for our guest...
Instruction
1
Step1: Download & Cutout Parts

Preview
Before you start, please note I engraved my box near the end of the project, this may not work for everyone. If you wish to engrave at the start when you cutout the pieces the designs are on the last page. Note: My riser system allows be to engrave a completed box
- Download the file and cutout the parts shown in the above screen shots
- I used 1/8" (3mm) Basswood for this project
- My setting are shown in the download, your setting may change based on machine used.
2
Step2: Assemble the Main Box

Preview
- Glue the Main Box together as shown above
- I use wood glue and painter tape in place of clamps (works better for me)
3
Step3: Assemble The Lid and Lid Locks

Preview
- Start by gluing the Lid Locks to the Lid Lock Plate as shown in the screen shot above
- When dry, glue the Lid Lock Plate to the center of the Lid
- You should have a 1/8" gap between the Lid and the Lid Lock Plate (All around)
- I use a piece of scrap to ensure the Lid Lock Plate is centered
4
Step4: Assemble The Inner Box Locks

Preview

Preview
- Glue the Inner Box Locks together as shown in the screen shot above (4 Locks)
- When dry, glue the Locks to the conners of the inner box as shown above
- Ensure the Locks are level with the top of the inner box and the holes are pointed to the center of the box

Step5: Engraving & Final Steps

- Box Imaging is your choice, I added my files as shown above
- I like to Image when my box is completed (Less Handle) so I can engrave from edge to edge
- You will need to mark the processing area and size the image to fit each piece
- Once completed assemble the handle and glue to the center of the lid
- Final step is to add the 1" Locking Pins, I used 1 ½" finishing nails cut down to 1 inch
- To cut the nails down 1" you can use a dremel tool with cutting blade or mark the nail at 1" and then using pliers grip at the mark and bend back and forth, it should brake at the mark
Have Fun…
