I recently needed a new door catch for the garden shed and decided to make my own instead of ordering online and waiting for shipping. This is a nice example of how a laser cutter can be useful for quickly creating little things in everyday life that would be very difficult or even impossible with other tools.

I used acrylic for this project so that it will not be harmed by water and will never need painting. The exact thickness of the material does not matter, I used 3mm as it is all I had some spare sheets and my 5w laser takes a very long time to cut thicker acrylic.
The sizing in the design should be fine for most situations but you can adjust the size of the crew holes if needed. 2 of the parts should have a hole the size of the screw threads and one part will need a larger hole to fit the head of the screw.
The above setting are for use with 3mm acrylic and a 5w laser module, but there can easily be adjusted for other lasers.

The 3 parts should be glued together using a waterproof glue and left to dry before installing outside.
