Instruction

1

Step1: Prepare the Artwork

Start with a high-contrast black and white design.

Important preparation steps:

  • Convert the artwork by inverting it.
  • Increase sharpness and contrast so details stand out.
  • Ensure the background is pure black and the engraving areas are white.
  • Resize the design to match the aluminum card dimensions.

This ensures the laser removes the anodized coating cleanly and preserves the fine details like fur texture, flowers, and egg patterns.

2

Step2: Import the Design into XCS

Open xTool Creative Space.

  • Import the prepared image.
  • Place it on the workspace matching the aluminum card size.
  • Align the artwork to the center of the card.
  • Set the processing mode to Bitmap engraving.

This ensures the laser will engrave the entire image with shading and detail.

3

Step3: Configure IR Laser Settings

Select the imported image and adjust the engraving settings.

Recommended starting settings for anodized aluminum with IR laser:

Power: 70–80%
Speed: 200–250 mm/s
DPI: 600–700

Bitmap mode:

Jarvis or Atkinson

These dithering modes help preserve fine details such as:

  • bunny fur texture
  • stars in the background
  • floral patterns
  • egg decorations

Note: I have my own settings in XCS File and you are free to take that up as is.

4

Step4: Frame the Design

Before engraving, use the Framing function in XCS.

This allows you to verify that:

  • The design fits perfectly on the card
  • The bunny is centered
  • No parts extend outside the material

Proper framing prevents misalignment during engraving.

5

Step5: Start the Engraving

Place the anodized aluminum card inside the laser machine.

Make sure:

  • The surface is flat
  • The focus is correct
  • The material is securely placed
  • Start the engraving process.

The IR laser will remove the anodized coating, revealing a bright metallic finish that creates the detailed Easter bunny illustration.

6

Step6: Clean the Engraving

Once engraving is complete:

  • Wipe the surface with isopropyl alcohol.
  • Use a soft cloth or brush to remove residue.
  • Polish lightly to enhance contrast.

This step makes the engraved bunny, eggs, and stars appear brighter and clearer.

7

Step7: Final Result

You will get a beautifully engraved Easter Bunny illustration with:

  • crisp metallic highlights
  • intricate egg patterns
  • delicate spring flowers
  • sparkling star accents
  • adorable chick hatching detail

The result is a clean, high-contrast IR engraving perfect for seasonal decoration or gifting.
