Information

      This is a nice ring box that could be used for a proposal or for just storing your favorite piece of jewelry. The box has a sliding top that fits snugly but not too tight. I used walnut plywood on the outside and maple plywood on the inside. The contrasting woods look great.

Download the project and import it into XTool Studio. Pick a nice material to cut your box out of. Try contrasting woods like I did for the outer and inner parts of the box, or match them up. Make any needed changes to the power and speed based on what materials you picked. 

 

Note: There is a kerf test inside one of the canvases in the XCS file you can use to make sure your joints on the box will fit just right.

Use some wood glue and assemble the pieces for the inner box first. Next, put the pieces of the outer box bottom and lid together and glue. The pieces can only go together one way.

Now the ring box is done. I finished my box with an oil and beeswax paste to bring out the wood grain. Shellac or another wood finish would work great also. This last step will set your project a part from other projects.
