PU Leather Book Cover Engraving - Fairy Tale Motif

Before you begin, keep these key points in mind:

This project uses a fairy tale book with a removable outer dust jacket.

The dust jacket is taken off, revealing a plain PU leather (faux leather) cover underneath.

This PU leather surface works well with standard engraving settings (depending on your machine).

The book must not be too thick, or it will not fit into the laser cutter.

The honeycomb/working plate must be removed to create enough height.

If the book is still too tall afterward, engraving will not work properly.

If you use a different material, you will need to adjust the laser settings accordingly.

It’s recommended to test your settings on the back cover with a small engraving.

Open your design in the laser software.

Adjust:

size

placement

and layout

Make sure everything fits the front of your PU leather book cover.

Take your fairy tale book and remove the outer dust jacket.

Place the book with the PU leather cover facing up inside the laser cutter.

👉 Put a sheet of paper underneath to protect the surface from residue.

I took a test engraving on the back.

Use the frame function in your laser software:

The machine will outline a rectangle

This shows the exact engraving area

👉 Align your book carefully within this frame.

Measure.

The red cross should be directly on the book cover.
