
1/20"(1.3mm) Black to White Laser Engraving Two-Tone Plastic Sheet
Engraved on 1/20" (1.3mm) black-to-white two-tone acrylic using the S1 at 299mm/s and 27% power, single pass on baseplate. This combination captured smooth gradient transitions in a detailed photo; fur texture, individual keyboard keys, and subtle tonal shifts all came through cleanly without losing detail to overburn. The low power and high speed let the laser modulate between the black and white layers instead of cutting straight through, which is what makes photo engravings like this work on two-tone. If your image has a lot of mid-tones and fine detail, these settings are a solid starting point.

Precautions
Before processing, first turn on the smoke exhaust or air purifier and confirm that the pipeline is not bent or blocked. The smoke and dust generated by laser processing contain harmful particles and irritating gases, and long-term inhalation can damage the respiratory tract; Smoke accumulation can also contaminate lenses and attenuate the optical path, affecting processing quality.
When operating with open covers or using open-type devices, be sure to wear laser goggles that match the wavelength of the light source. Different light sources (blue light/infrared/CO2/UV) have different wavelengths; please pay attention to whether the wavelength protected by the goggles matches the laser;
After each cut of wood or MDF, remove debris and carbon deposits from the gaps of the honeycomb board. Residue is a flammable material, and the most common cause of internal fires is secondary ignition by laser during subsequent processing; Carbon deposits can also cause reflection on the back, contaminating the underside of the workpiece.
After processing, do not open the lid immediately. Wait for the smoke exhaust system to run for 10~30 seconds and after the smoke inside the chamber is completely removed before removing the part. Opening the lid immediately will allow unvented smoke or odorous gases to flow directly into the operator's face. Ensure good ventilation and wear a protective mask if necessary.
Processing chlorine-containing materials is prohibitedIt is strictly forbidden to process chlorine-containing materials such as PVC, artificial leather, or veneer soft rubber. Laser burning releases highly corrosive toxic gases such as hydrogen chloride, endangering human health and corroding guide rails, lenses, and circuit boards. When unsure about the material, first conduct a small-area test and observe the smell.
Before cutting, make sure the fire extinguishing equipment is in placeBefore starting cutting, place the CO2 fire extinguisher or blanket within one meter of the equipment in a location that is easily accessible. Combustible materials such as wood and acrylic carry the risk of ignition.
Pay attention to odor prevention during processingMaterials such as leather, rubber, and silicone produce noticeable odors; ensure good ventilation and wear protective masks if necessary.
Handling when a flame alarm appearsIf a flame alarm is triggered when processing flammable materials such as plywood, acrylic, or polyester mesh: stop processing immediately, maintain smoke exhaust operation, and only open the lid after confirming there is no open flame. Do not open the lid directly to promote ignition.
Prevent high-temperature burns after processingFreshly processed materials and cuts are very hot; please wait for cooling or wear gloves to pick up parts; do not touch them directly.
