Pencil Box

I created the box using MakerCase (https://de.makercase.com/#/basicbox), then used Inkscape to join the sections to remove unnecessary cuts.  I created the images with Midjourney.  Use them or replace them as desired.  The two panels with the images are the front/back of the box.  The blank panels are the sides.

This pattern will work only with 5mm (.197in) wood.  If your wood is thinner or thicker, the joints will not meet correctly.  

I used 5mm Revolution Ply from Lowe's.  I have them cut the sheet into five strips 19 1/8".  They can then be easily cut at home into 12"x19 1/8" sections that fit nicely on the honeycomb panel.  One sheet yields 20 pieces.  I use these for project test and utility projects.

After cutting, assemble the box without glue to make sure all joints fit correctly.  Take it back apart and apply glue to joining surfaces.  I chose to use wood glue, applied with a toothpick.  After the box is assembled, wrap with rubber bands to hold parts securely until glue is cured (30 minutes for the glue I used).

You could probably use super-glue, but I didn't trust myself to align the parts correctly on the first try or to manage not to glue myself to the box.  

MakerCase is a great utility for designing simple boxes.  Just make sure you have an accurate material thickness measurement or the joints will not line up.
