Resin Filled Engravings

Step 1) Engrave in to wood or bamboo, making sure depth of engraving is at least 1mm deep. The best way to achieve this is high power and slow speeds.

Step 2) With an orbital sander with 220-240 grit sand paper lightly sand the entire area of the engraved piece.

Step 3) With a brush or air compressor clean the engraved area, especially the deeper spots, once clean the engraving is ready for the resin.

Step 4) For demonstration I have uploaded a video on how to apply the resin,  this video contains footage of a serving tray getting a second coat. ( second coat of resin is optional and should only be applied after 15 minute from the first coat.)you pour a small amount at one end of the engraved area. Use a metal business card as a flat scraper to wipe away the access resin. The metal business card allows the top surface to stay flat and only allows the resin to fill the engraving flush. Once completely scraped allow to dry. Once dry lightly sand once again and add a clear finish with either matte or high gloss clear.
