The checkerboard is oriented so that each player has a black square at the bottom left.
Each player places his 20 pawns on the last 4 rows of the board, placing them only on the dark squares.
The player holding the white pawns starts the game.
Movements and checkers-game attacks:
– A pawn moves only diagonally and forward. The pawns will always be on dark squares and cannot move backwards.
– To take an opponent's pawn, you have to straddle the opponent's pawn diagonally by a single square, knowing that the square behind it must be empty. Once ridden, the pawn is removed from the game board.
– This pawn grab is possible for several pawns, as long as the pawns are "glued" diagonally and the next square is free.
Get a queen:
– A queen is two stacked pawns.
– To get it, a pawn from a player must arrive on one of the squares in the opponent's last row.
– Once there, the player can place a second pawn on top of it (use a pawn previously lost when taking a pawn).
– A queen has the right to move back and forth, cross several empty squares and also change her trajectory if there is an empty square behind the opponent's pawn (and thus remove several opponent's pawns at once).
The game is a draw if both players fail to take all of the opponent's pawns.
