Cake label & guest label for new year / etiquette pour gateau et marque place pour la nouvelle année

The project consists of cutting plywood in the shape of a holly and mistletoe bouquet, engraving it with snowflakes or small holly leaves on the front and back, and also engraving the guest's name on the front to indicate his or her place. An oval foot with engravings or a snowflake will be cut in 2 copies to hold the creation vertically on the table next to the plate. Same procedure, but for a label to put on the cake, so pointed tabs without feet with the text "Happy new year" or with the French Touch "Bonne année"...

To give the wood a snow-white appearance, you can coat it with white wax and shine it with a wool cloth. Make sure you do this before engraving and not afterwards, otherwise the wax will clog up the relief of the engravings and they will no longer be visible, as the black burns will have turned white.

I used the "contour" function to generate the laser-cut path for the holly and mistletoe bouquet, which is a pixel image. I also used the "combine" function to merge the tongue, and the text having also been modified with the "contour" function.

To engrave the back of the work piece, position the "orange" locating mask around the outline cut on the cut piece of wood after turning it over. The "orange" mask is set to fast speed and very low laser power to avoid marking the wood. 

Don't forget to open and to close de cover of the Xtool machine to take the picture of the rear of the cut piece of wood .

Pour graver la face arrière de la pièce il faut positionner le masque "orange" servant au locating sur la pièce de bois déjà découpée après l’avoir retournée. Le Masque ""orange"  est paramétré en vitesse rapide et puissance laser très faible pour ne pas marquer le bois. 

N'oubliez pas d'ouvrir et de fermer le capot de la machine Xtool pour prendre la photo de l'arrière de la pièce de bois coupée.
