      Wanted to create a fun way to show of our Library Makerspace equipment to our patrons that was both informational and creative. To help make this a quick cut and engrave we set up the design to a score rather than an engrave. Adding details with acrylic paint made it so much more special.

Instruction

Step1: Score and cut materials.

Preview

Score and cut the notebook cover using 1/8 inch basswood. Cut out the mixed media cardstock using just the notebook cover outline.

Step2: Paint

Preview

Paint the mixed media cardstock with a sky background. Paint the wooden cover to add more details. Let both pieces fully dry before assembly.

Step3: Put your notebook together.

Preview

Using pliers, gently open the ends of the notebook's wire binding. Then twist (or roll) the spiral off, removing the original front cover. Add the painted mixed media paper and the laser-cut wooden cover. Roll the spiral back through the holes and use the pliers again to close the ends of the wire so the spiral does not come undone. DONE! Enjoy
