The Second Half

Informação
Where the Game Meets the Art of Dimension.
Every game has two halves. This one tells both sides of the story.
The Second Half is a striking mixed-media canvas that captures the intensity, determination, and raw energy of American football through an unexpected fusion of realistic imagery and dimensional paper artistry.
The composition begins with an original printed design on an 8 × 10-inch canvas, featuring a football player in a dramatic, close-up portrait. One half reveals the grit and realism of the athlete beneath a battle-worn helmet, while the other transforms into an intricate sculptural interpretation constructed from black, gold, and cream cardstock.
Precision-cut geometric layers recreate the helmet's structure, facemask, and protective contours, building depth and dimension beyond the printed surface. Angular fragments appear to break away from the composition, creating the illusion of movement, impact, and transformation.
The contrast between photographic realism and architectural paper construction makes the artwork as much about creative technique as it is about the sport itself. Rich metallic-inspired gold tones against deep black add a bold, contemporary finish, while the dimensional elements introduce texture, shadow, and visual intrigue.
Designed for sports enthusiasts, football-inspired spaces, and contemporary home décor, The Second Half challenges the boundaries between a printed image and a three-dimensional work of art.
Because the most compelling part of the story isn't always what happens in the first half.
Instrução
Etapa1: Prepare the Canvas Board

Place your 8 × 10-inch white canvas board onto the xTool C1 Light Grip mat.
Secure the canvas board using small pieces of blue painter's tape at all four corners. Make sure the board is stable and will not shift during printing.
Keep in mind that the areas covered by tape will not receive the printed image. These corners can be decorated later.
Etapa2: Print the Original Landscape
Processing Mode: Print
Import The Second Half base PNG into your C1 design software and position the artwork to fit the 8 × 10-inch canvas board.
Check the artwork placement and print settings before starting.
Print the landscape directly onto the canvas board using the inkjet module.
Tip: Pay particular attention to the placement of the artwork so the main landscape features remain visible and the four taped corners can be finished afterward (or left blank).
Etapa3: Allow the Ink to Dry
Once printing is complete, allow the canvas board to rest for a few minutes so the ink can dry before handling it.
Carefully remove the painter's tape once the surface is ready to handle.
Avoid touching or rubbing the freshly printed artwork.
Etapa4: (Optional) Decorate the Four Corners
To finish the areas previously covered by painter's tape, apply paint (e.g., white, black, or gold), or decorative gold foiling by hand to the four corners of the canvas.
Optional: Paint and/or Gold foiling is not required. You may leave the four corners of the canvas blank for a simpler, rugged finish.
Etapa5: Cut the Layered Pieces
Install the fine-point blade on the xTool C1.
Import your layered cutting accent designs (e.g., helmet plates, accent plates, etc) and prepare the individual pieces.
Cut the layers using a combination of:
Heavyweight solid-color cardstock
Colored foil cardstock
Select cutting settings appropriate for each material and perform a small test cut when needed.
Carefully remove the pieces from the mat, taking extra care.
Etapa6: Assembly

Using the base placement puzzle guide, assemble all of the cut pieces, one color, one layer at a time over their own corresponding areas.
Combine contrasting colors and textures to create depth and visual interest.
Use a suitable craft adhesive to secure the layers, aligning the individual pieces while allowing the layered construction to retain its dimensional appearance.
To create an optional fuller portrait, print multiples of the “accent facets” and arrange them artfully on the right side of the canvas, crossing over to the left side just under the helmet.
Once the final embellishment is in place, allow the adhesive to dry or cure completely according to the manufacturer's instructions before handling or displaying your finished canvas.
Etapa7: Inspect and Display
Examine the finished artwork to make sure all accent pieces are securely attached and all adhesives have fully dried.
Your The Second Half mixed-media puzzle art canvas is complete!
Enjoy! Craft on.
